Privacy policy

Updated October 7, 2026

HeyNico is operated by Finnternet LLC. We are developing Nico, a language trainer for WhatsApp. This policy describes the current integration pilot, which receives WhatsApp events. The pilot sends a fixed test reply to incoming text messages. It does not answer calls or process conversations through an AI provider.

Information we receive

If you contact Nico through WhatsApp, Meta may send us your WhatsApp identifier, phone number, profile information, message content, timestamps, delivery information, and call-related signaling data. The information depends on the events Meta delivers. The pilot stores incoming message and call events; it does not record call audio.

How we use it

We use these events to connect and test the WhatsApp integration, send fixed test replies, prevent duplicate processing, and troubleshoot delivery. We do not use pilot conversations for advertising or to train AI models. Only send information you are comfortable sharing for this testing purpose.

Storage and retention

Incoming events are stored in private files on the server running HeyNico. The configured retention period is 24 hours. Expired files are removed when the server starts and during its hourly cleanup, so deletion can occur up to an hour after the retention period while the server is running. Reply-attempt records are kept for eight days to prevent repeated replies when Meta retries a delivery. They contain hashed incoming message identifiers and, for accepted replies, an outgoing message identifier. Diagnostic application logs omit message content, phone numbers, credentials, and call signaling payloads.

Service providers

Meta provides the WhatsApp Business Platform used to deliver events. Amazon Web Services hosts our cloud pilot server. Cloudflare provides the HTTPS tunnel connecting to our development server and handles traffic passing through it. These providers handle information under their own policies. We operate a cloud pilot server and a separate development server. No AI provider receives conversations from this pilot.

This website

The landing and privacy pages do not set cookies, use analytics, or collect form submissions. Hosting and network providers may process request information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. Emailing us shares your email address and the contents of your email with us and our email service provider.

Your choices and requests

You can stop sharing new information by stopping contact with Nico. For questions, access, correction, or deletion requests relating to information we hold, email chris@finnternet.com. We may need to verify that a request relates to your account. Deleting information from HeyNico does not delete copies held by WhatsApp or Meta.

Changes to Nico

We will update this policy before introducing AI processing, voice media handling, or materially different storage and use of conversation data. The updated date above identifies the current version.
